Adventure Tours

Peru Beyond the Volunteer Placement

You came to Peru to make a difference. But while you’re here, some of the world’s most incredible landscapes are waiting just hours from Cusco. Ancient citadels in the clouds. Mountains painted in impossible colors. Jungles where the Amazon begins. This is your chance to explore them.

Our adventure tours are designed for volunteers and travelers who want more than tourist buses and rushed itineraries. We work with local guides who know these trails like family. We choose routes that balance iconic sites with hidden gems most visitors never see. And we keep groups small so you actually experience the places, not just photograph them.

Whether you have a free weekend during your volunteer program or you’re adding adventure days before heading home, we’ll help you discover the Peru that takes your breath away.

Machu Picchu

No photo prepares you for the moment you first see it. The lost city of the Incas emerging from the mist, surrounded by peaks that seem impossible. We offer everything from single-day visits to multi-day treks along ancient paths. However you choose to arrive, standing among those ancient stones changes something in you.

Inca Trail

The classic. The original. Four days walking the same stone path that Inca messengers ran centuries ago. You pass through cloud forests, over mountain passes at 4,200 meters, and past ruins that few tourists ever see. On the final morning, you reach the Sun Gate just as light breaks over Machu Picchu below. There’s a reason this is considered one of the world’s great treks. Limited permits make booking essential months in advance.

Salkantay Trek

The alternative to the Inca Trail, and many hikers say they prefer it. Five days through some of the most dramatic scenery in the Andes. You walk beneath Salkantay, a sacred peak rising to 6,271 meters, its glaciers glowing in the morning sun. The route crosses high passes, descends into cloud forests, and enters Machu Picchu through the back door. No permit lottery required, and the landscapes rival anything in Peru.

Rainbow Mountain

Vinicunca was unknown to tourists until a few years ago. Now it’s one of Peru’s most photographed sites, and for good reason. Layers of mineral deposits have painted this peak in stripes of red, yellow, green, and turquoise. The hike is challenging at 5,200 meters, but the view from the top feels like standing on another planet.

Sacred Valley

The heartland of the Inca empire stretches between Cusco and Machu Picchu. Pisac’s terraced ruins and famous market. Ollantaytambo’s fortress where the Incas actually defeated Spanish conquistadors. Moray’s mysterious circular terraces. Maras salt mines glittering white against the mountainside. Each stop reveals another layer of Andean history and culture.

Humantay Lake

A turquoise glacial lake at the foot of snow-capped Humantay peak. The hike takes you through high Andean landscapes where condors circle overhead and the air is thin and cold and impossibly clean. Most visitors call it one of the most beautiful places they’ve ever seen.

Amazon Jungle

Peru holds more Amazon rainforest than any country except Brazil. From Cusco, you can reach the jungle in a short flight or a scenic drive down through cloud forests. Multi-day lodges put you deep in primary forest where monkeys swing overhead, caimans float in oxbow lakes, and the sounds at night remind you how wild this planet still is.

Colca Canyon

Twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, Colca is where Andean condors ride thermal currents just meters from viewpoints. The surrounding region offers hot springs, traditional villages, and some of Peru’s most dramatic landscapes.

Lake Titicaca

The highest navigable lake in the world sits on the border of Peru and Bolivia. Visit the floating islands built entirely of reeds. Stay overnight with families on Amantani Island. Watch the sun set over water so vast it looks like an ocean at 3,800 meters.
